De Plataan lies next to the old canal the Coupure and offers a beautiful view on Ghent's oldest trees. In the 18th centuries the Ghent nobility use to parade on Sunday afternoon under the plane trees; today students come relax here between two examinations.
De Plataan is an excellent backdrop for a splendid walk to the touristic attractions of Ghent.
