Spend a night or two in an authentic ex-railway cottage, fully furnished and self contained, right down to cutlery and bedding. Firewood and coal are provided and you can experience what life was like in the 1920's (with a few mod-cons added for your comfort). Take a stroll along the river and gather firewood. Visit with the farm animals and listen for kiwis calling at night. There is a glow-worm grotto on the main road. | Host | Bill & Christine Hennah | | Bill & Christine and son Christopher, bought the ex-railway village of Otira in 1998 and have been restoring the houses ever since. Some are permanent rentals and others are rented as holiday cottages. They also run the Otira Hotel and tearooms. |
