To get to Camano Island you pass through Stanwood just north of Everett. People visiting the island often wonder why it's called an island considering that it's not isolated from the rest of Washington state. In fact, the only water seperating the two is a small unrecognizable flow of water called Davis' Slough. For the most part Camano Island is completely surrounded by water, except for the point in which you drive onto it. That's what makes Camano Island such a great vacation destination. It's easily accessible yet remote at the same time. There's plenty to do as it is, but being connected to the mainland opens up whole new opportunities for adventure and entertainment. Camano Island is known for it's terrific wildlife preservation, thriving artistic community, and has incredible bird watching. The boating and kayaking are top notch.
